Pixar’s Closing Shots: Watch a Bittersweet Supercut

Pixar has an uncanny ability to tug at your heartstrings and make you cry like a John Green-worshipping teen watching The Fault in Our Stars. All of these feelings culminate with a bittersweet ending that leaves audiences feeling emotionally satisfied — if not a little emotionally raw as well.

Vimeo user Sean created a supercut of all but one of the Pixar films’ closing shots (watch it above), from the first Toy Story to last year’s The Good Dinosaur. The only Pixar film missing is the one currently in theaters, Finding Dory. Sean’s supercut offers a brief timeline of how much Pixar’s animation has grown and improved — just compare the first appearance of Woody and Buzz to their look in Toy Story 3.

All of Pixar’s endings are uplifting and hopeful — but even that doesn’t mean you can toss away your tissue box. I remember being so overjoyed at the last shot of Monsters, Inc. that I cried, so be forewarned that even happy endings might come with a tear or two.
