READ MORE: Hulu is Now the Exclusive Streaming Home for IFC Films’ Documentaries
“He Named Me Malala” will be available to stream for Hulu subscribers this summer, according to a deal with National Geographic Channels announced today. Davis Guggenheim’s documentary made its TV premiere on the National Geographic Channel this week after a Fox Searchlight theatrical release last fall. Guggenheim is also known for directing the acclaimed documentaries “An Inconvenient Truth” and “Waiting for Superman.”
“He Named Me Malala” follows the incredible story of Nobel Peace Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist well-known for her support of female education and women’s rights. She is most famously known for surviving attacks by the Taliban in 2012, who attempted to assassinate her at age 15. After recovering from her gunshot injury, Malala received more global attention and was able to found the Malala Fund. The documentary recounts this tale, as well as her relationship with her family and her continued fight for social justice.
Hulu has not yet announced a streaming release date for the film.
